Ingredients That Make A Difference: Marula

Why We Love It

Marula Oil’s unique combination of Vitamins C, E, and Oleic Acid allow it to reduce the appearance of scars and hyper-pigmentation, prevent cell damage (which can lead to wrinkles) and even skin tone, while deeply moisturizing your skin.  It contains up to 60% more antioxidants than most oils, even one of our other favorites, argan oil.  We sourced this oil in it’s purest state, as an unrefined, cold-pressed, virgin Marula Oil, leaving every bit of it’s naturally occurring benefits readily available to your skin.

Found In Nature

Marula (Sclerocarya birrea) is harvested from the Marula tree and it native to South Africa.  Once the marula nuts are harvested, they are dried, the shells are removed and later used for charcoal.  The nuts are inspected for quality and manually pressed to remove the golden oil.  Our oil is a cold pressed virgin oil, meaning no heat is applied to it during the extraction process, limiting the potential for the delicate properties to be impacted or damaged.

Oleic Acid makes up 70%-78% of Marula oil’s composition – this deeply moisturizing Omega 9 supports the efforts of the other oil components by creating a natural barrier on your skin and has been shown to encourage absorption of your skincare layered underneath

Antioxidants – help your body to heal and repair by fighting the free radicals that cause cell damage, this damage can lead to diminished collagen production and wrinkles

Rich in B-Sitosterol – studies show this plant phytosterol encourages the production of new collagen while also limiting the collagen diminishing affects of the sun

Catechins – a type of antioxidant similar to those found in green tea, increases the ability of your skin to heal itself, while protecting the skin from new damage

Vitamins C and E – in studies these antioxidants have been shown to be more effective at addressing UV exposure and wrinkles when applied together than each vitamin on their own

The following depicts the majority proportions of the chemical composition of marula oil, slight variances will occur based the unique makeup of each batch produced.  When God creates something in nature, He does not stick to a perfect formula.

Oleic Acid (a mono-unsaturated fatty acid) – 70-80%

Linoleic Acid (a polyunsaturated fatty acid) – 4-7%

Stearic Acid (a saturated fatty acid) – 5-7%

Palmitic Acid (a saturated fatty acid) – 8-11%
