Rebekah and I have both had different skincare journeys that led us to natural skincare and to our current routines.  Interestingly, both of us have similar skin concerns, dry/dehaydrated skin that tends to be sensitive and easily irritated by harsh products.  We have provided a recommended skincare routine below, take a peak to see if you get any new tips or ideas.

Morning

– Use a gentle cleansing powder, to aid in cleaning your pores and gently exfoliate.  Dampen face, shake the powder into your palm, create a loose paste with water, and apply this to your face.  Very gently rub this around your face, neck, and décolleté, if you have the time leave this on for a couple of minutes to get even more benefits – but really who has time for that… just a good gentle cleanse is enough.  Splash face clean with cool (not cold) water, pat dry.

– If you don’t feel like cleansing your face, or just used a cleanser the night before, splash your face several times with first warm water and follow with cool water, then pat dry.  To very gently exfoliate your skin, you can also follow with a cotton round soaked with facial toner, gently swipe across face and neck.

– Spray 4 spritzes of a hydrating facial toner from your face to your décolleté, and press the toner into the skin.  Here again, if you have time and are feeling fancy, will follow with a 2nd application of the toner.  The 2nd application really boosts the hydration of the skin, which will be locked in with your moisturizer, but is not necessary for every day.

– Apply eye oil by gently tapping it around your eye orbital bone from under the eye all the way around to above the eye brow.  Do not get too close to your lash line or it could cause your makeup to smudge later on.  I love an oil that comes in a roller ball that I can use to target my eye area.

 – Moisturize by applying an oil (such as our Infinity Oil) across the face, neck, and décolleté.  If your skin is no longer damp, apply 1-2 spritzes of the facial toner before moving on to the oil.  Apply 8 drops of oil across face and neck (don’t forget your lips), follow with 4 drops from the décolleté up to the neck. Preferably, allow these oils to absorb in for a couple of minutes, such as while brushing your teeth.  Follow with another 3-4 drops pressed into the drier spots or special focus areas – example – around the nose and mouth, also at the outer corners of the eyes.

 – Apply a good layer of lip balm, look in the mirror and tell yourself, “this will be a great day” and keep it moving!

Night

– If removing makeup – apply 2-4 pumps of a cleansing oil across face and neck, massage in.  Follow with 2-4 pumps of cleansing oil to eye area, gently coaxing the oil in around the eye lashes, particularly if waterproof mascara was worn.

Splash warm (not hot) water onto face, gently massage the water into the oil, paying special attention to more congested areas or waterproof makeup, i.e. mascara.  Take two cotton rounds (preferably not cotton balls), dampen in warm water, gently press against the eyes at the lash line.  In gentle swiping motions, wipe the make up away from around the eyes and the rest of the face, down to your neck.

– If cleansing skin but not removing makeup – apply 3-5 pumps of a cleansing oil across face and neck, massage in.  Splash warm (not hot) water, gently massage the water into the oil, paying special attention to more congested areas.

– Use a warm damp washcloth to remove all the traces of the cleansing oil and to further clean your skin. Splash face with cool (not cold) water, pat dry.

– You may use a gentle cleansing powder, to provide a deeper cleanse, this can be used either in the evening or in the morning but is not recommended for twice a day. Dampen face, shake the powder into your palm, create a loose paste with water, and apply this to your face.  Very gently rub this around your face, neck, and décolleté, if you have the time, leave this on for a couple of minutes to get even more benefits – although just a good gentle cleanse is enough.  Splash face clean with cool (not cold) water, pat dry.

– If you have not used a second cleansing method, spray facial toner onto a cotton round and gently swipe across your face and neck, to ensure all oil residue is removed.

– At this point you can apply a facial mask, such as an brightening enzyme mask, a pore clearing clay mask, or a hydrating anti-aging booster mask mixed with yogurt or water.

 – Spray 4 spritzes of a hydrating facial toner from your face to your décolleté, and use your hands to press the toner into the skin.

– Apply eye oil by gently tapping it around your eye orbital bone from under the eye all the way around to above the eye brow.  I love an oil that comes in a roller ball that I can use to target my eye area.

– Moisturize by applying an oil (such as our Infinity Oil) across the face, neck, and décolleté.  If my skin is no longer damp, I will apply 1-2 spritzes of the facial toner before moving on to the oil.  Apply 6 drops across face and neck (don’t forget your lips), follow with 4 drop from décolleté up to the neck.  Preferably, I allow these oils to absorb in for a couple of minutes while I brush my teeth.  I then follow with another 3-4 drops pressed into the drier spots or special focus areas on my skin, around the nose and mouth, also at the outer corners of the eye.

– Apply heaps of lip balm right before going to sleep, this will create a barrier and moisturize all through the night.

– As your final step, apply an eyelash treatment oil.  Do this right before crawling into bed, because it can cause your vision to be a little off, but the benefits are so worth it!

Find a routine that works for you, but remember to re-evaluate and adjust your routine based on seasonal changes that impact your skincare needs.
